YOUTH CAMPS

Camp Dos Cabezas provides children from at-risk communities with the experience of a lifetime to help them achieve success in their lives. Students who are 10 to 12 years old and going from fourth to fifth grade are eligible to be nominated by a teacher. The basis for nomination is ability to do well in school that is impeded by economic hardship, at-risk factors, or other factors that prevent academic success and dedication to school. Students are exposed to vast educational topics, from history and archaeology to geology and astronomy in a hands-on camp environment to help them develop greater interests in education and commitment to school.

Camp Chaco offers middle school students who have been active in the Camp Dos Cabezas program the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to attend the advanced camp. This helps them understand the scholarship process before they attend high school.

Camp Wichita is planned for high school students to provide hands-on experience in ecology, earth sciences, environmental education and fields related to forestry and wildlife. The grade level will be ninth and tenth grade.

Summer Arts Youth Camp offers education in arts, theater and dance. Themes usually center around the ancient Aztec legends of Mexico. Students work on all aspects of theatre production, including the script, set building (art and design), lighting, acting and dance.
